Reminder for Landlords
We’d like to remind all landlords in our area of their responsibilities in relation to the Water Industry (Undertakers Wholly or Mainly in Wales) Non-Owner Occupier Regulations 2014 which were introduced by the Welsh Assembly Government in 2015. If you’re not aware of these regulations, then please don’t worry, we hope the following information will clarify things for you or you can find more information and guidance on the Welsh Assembly Government website.
As a landlord of a property, you need to inform us of any tenancy changes within 21days of the change. We will need to be given full tenancy details including full name, address, date of birth (where you hold it) and the occupation date of all responsible tenants.
The easiest way to let us know of any changes is by registering your property details at landlordtap.com. It’s an easy to use website that allows Landlords and Managing Agents of residential properties in England & Wales to provide water companies with details of those responsible for the payment of water and/or sewerage charges for their tenanted properties. Instead of needing to pick up the phone, or write to us, once you are registered, you can then just complete the easy to use online forms to provide the required information. This
information is then passed back to us or the relevant water company automatically.
Failure to provide this information may result in us exercising our entitlement under the regulations to hold you responsible for charges.
If you are a licensed agent, as party of your Rent Smart Wales license conditions you need to ensure that you comply with these regulations as you could be audited and failure to comply could affect your license.
